Easyspace awarded 'No.1 Dedicated Servers' Award

Easyspace, one of the largest Web Service providers in the UK, has been awarded the title of "No .1 Dedicated Servers" for its range of high quality dedicated servers.

The award comes from the influential Web Host Directory who, each month, encourages its visitors to for vote for the Top Web Hosts in each of its Web Host related categories. At the end of each month the Web Host Directory awards panel visits the top voted Web Hosts in each category, and determines which are most worthy of receiving an award.

The award reflects the recent changes across the Easyspace Dedicated Server range, including the launch of newer, more advanced units housing powerful DualCore and QuadCore Xeon processors.

Additional improvements to the dedicated server offering from Easyspace included the bundling of a Plesk Control Panel, FREE SSL certificate an increase in disk space, an increase in RAM and the scrapping of all setup fees on all servers.

Windows Virtual Servers now available from Easyspace

Easyspace, one of the largest Virtual Server providers in the UK, is now offering Windows based Virtual Private Servers to sit alongside its existing Linux based VPS products.

In line with the existing Linux packages, Windows Virtual Servers are being sold as Standard and Premium packages, costing £11.95 per month and £22.95 per month respectively. Additionally, like the existing Linux offering, Windows servers are available with Dual Xeon Processors, up to 512MB dedicated Ram and up to 40GB HD.

Easyspace had become one of the leading suppliers of Virtual Private Servers in the UK before offering a Windows alternative, and already a large demand for the Windows option has been realised. Easyspace today announced the launch of its May 2008 special offer, just one of a number of special offers to be rolled out in the coming months.

Until 31st May, all people buying a domain name with Easyspace will be able to purchase any number of .biz domain names for just £7.50 each for one year – a saving of 40% on the standard sale price of the domain!

The offer lasts only until 31st May and is open to both new and existing customers.

Easyspace announces £3000 competition winner

Easyspace has announced the winner of its recent £3000 Custom Web Design "Worst Website" competition.

With over 500 entries received, Easyspace had a tough task narrowing down to four finalists who would be put to public vote for 2 weeks. However, having gone through all entries, often with great amusement at the creative reasoning sent in, four winners were picked. From this final four, www.advertising-calendars.com was voted, by the Easyspace.com users, the website most in need of the prize.

Congratulations to Mr Godding, owner of the winning website. Easyspace is now in contact with Mr Godding to take forward the re-design of the website.

"We contacted Mr Godding late on Monday afternoon to let him know of his win" said Errol Vanderhorst, Sales and Marketing Director for Easyspace.com. "He seemed thrilled at the news and we are delighted to now be able to help him, and hopefully his business, by delivering an extensive website re-design worth up to £3000"

The winner, Mr Godding, added "I am absolutely delighted that my website has been voted the winner of Britain's 'Ugliest Website', and wish to thank everyone who has voted for me!"

The two stage competition ran from 10th December with users firstly invited to send in their websites and their explanations as to why they felt they had the Worst Website. From this first stage, Easyspace selected 4 finalists based on site design and reasoning sent in. Those 4 finalists were then put on a poll on easyspace.com where users were invited to place their votes.

Easyspace nominated for a prestigious ISPA Award

Easyspace has been named as a finalist in the Best Shared Hosting Services category at this year’s ISPA Awards.

The ISPAs - the UK Internet industry awards - are unique as they are awarded to people and organisations in the industry by their peers and reflect the broad nature of the internet services sector.

Companies that have been nominated in a hosting category have been judged on a range of criteria including: performance, value for money, customer support, data centre security, quality standards and product portfolio.

All entrants in the ISPA hosting categories were subjected to physical service testing by Epitiro, an independent organisation that provides a range of benchmarking performance services across dial up, cable, broadband and wireless connections. Over a period of 3 months, Epitiro configured a satellite to periodically download a file from Easyspace’s servers in order to measure availability and non-cached download speed.

Sarah Haran, Managing Director, Easyspace commented: “I am delighted that we have been nominated as a finalist in such a competitive category at this year’s ISPAs. The fact that our shared hosting service has been shortlisted, after independent evaluation, is particularly rewarding as I feel that it validates everything we say about our product and recognises the efforts of the Easyspace customer service and technical teams.”

Easyspace has been awarded the title of No. 1 UK Shared Web Hosting provider for September 2007 by UK Web Host Directory. It's the second time in less than one year that Easyspace has been awarded the title.

According to Web Host Directory "Awards are given to the best Web Hosts in each of our Web Host Categories by tabulating the Votes they receive from our visitors and our Review Board.

Each Host is given a rating of 1 to 10 (10 being best) in 6 areas of performance, including Cost, Features, Support, Reliability and Speed.

The votes are tabulated and double checked for accuracy and duplicates from the same person. Web Host Directory does not permit "Stuffing the Ballot Box" for a Web Host.

Eternity II is the follow up to Eternity I, one of the fastest selling puzzles of all time, which captured the imagination of thousands of people in the UK 8 years ago when a cheque for £1 million was handed over to a student who successfully solved the puzzle 18 months after launch.

Easyspace Signup to help offset Carbon Emmissions

Easyspace has signed up with CoCo2 to help offset the Carbon Emissions generated by the server that easyspace.com is hosted on.

CoCo2 will use the money donated by Easyspace to fund various projects, from purchasing carbon offsets to offset the impact of registered websites (including easyspace.com) on the environment, to planting trees in the UK and supplying energy efficient lighting to low income villagers in South Africa amongst other things.

According to CoCo2 "Carbon Offsetting is a method by which you can minimise your impact on the environment. For every ton of CO2 your activities produce you can reduce somebody else's activities by the same amount.

For example, if the electricity generated that your website consumes is equivelant to 1 ton of CO2 emmitted per year then we could plant trees that take 1 ton of carbon out of the atmosphere."

System Status:
As with the support ticketing system, the system status pages have always been there. However, they've now been given greater prominence within the support section and have had an overhaul to make them clearer. Try downloading the status RSS feed to keep up-to-date with status updates.

Easyspace launch Microsoft Exchange packages

Easyspace have launched two Microsoft Exchange email packages to sit next to their existing basic EasyMail package.

The new Exchange packages (Advanced and Professional) offer customers a more robust, feature rich email solution for both business and personal use. Each package includes a free version of Microsoft Outlook 2003, MAPI mailboxes, Active Sync, Roaming SMTP, Outlook Web Access and Outlook Mobile Access, as well as public folders, shared calendars and shared address books. The Professional pack also includes an additional 1Gb mailbox storage.

Additional upgrades are also available, allowing customers to add POP3 mailboxes if required (only £1 per month), additional storage blocks of 250Mb and additional Exchange mailboxes.

Easyspace this week launched new Virtual Server packages to compliment its other web hosting offerings.

Starting at only £19.95 per month, the Standard Virtual Server package offers 128Mb Dedicated RAM, Celeron 1.0GHz CPU, 10Gb Disk Space, 2IP addresses, Plesk/Virtuozzo Control Panels and an uptime of 99.99%.
