View Article  New improved Support section launched

In response to customer feedback, Easyspace has now improved and centralised its support services, meaning customers can now access all support channels through one purpose built area of the easyspace.com website.
The new Easyspace "Supportal" can be found: http://support.easyspace.com.

NEW! - Only one login required
The new supportal means customers only have to login once to get access to all Easyspace services. You'll easily be able to navigate between the control panel, support areas and customer club without having to login again.

NEW! - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
As a customer you can now subscribe to FAQ email alerts. We'll email you when new FAQs have been added and when existing FAQs have been updated.

NEW! - Contact Information
If you have an urgent issue, or cannot find a suitable answer to your issues via the various other support methods, then contact our support team directly. The new contact information page details phone and fax numbers, opening times and more.

NEW! - Support Survey
Help us improve further. Once your issue has been resolved, we'd appreciate it if you could take a couple of minutes to complete our customer satisfaction survey to help us improve the service you and our other customers receive.

NEW(ish) – The Easyspace Blog
Our blog isn't actually new, but for the first time you can now reach it easily from the support area. We use it to post product updates, helpful hints and tips and other great stuff. Why not add it to your favourites (http://easyblog.blogware.com) or add it to your RSS Reader (http://feeds.feedburner.com/EasyspaceBlog)

COMING SOON – The Easyspace Forum!
Not content with simply offering a vast database of FAQs, a support ticketing system, assistance via livechat and telephone support, we are also in the process of developing the Easyspace forum. The forum will be a resource for staff and customers to communicate about all things Easyspace, from support issues through to new product launches. We'll let you know when it is live and how to get access!

COMING SOON – FAQ Review!
We will soon be going through each and every one of our hundreds of existing FAQs to update, edit and extend where required - meaning you will have a more helpful FAQ database than ever before.

Additional features within the new Supportal:

Support Tickets:
Our existing ticket support system remains, but it's had a makeover to fit within the new site design. Customers can still raise tickets and view older tickets. As usual, we aim to answer all tickets within 24hrs.

Live Chat:
Talk to our support technicians live to resolve any issues via our Instant Messaging Interface. Note that this facility is for technical queries only.

System Status:
As with the support ticketing system, the system status pages have always been there. However, they've now been given greater prominence within the support section and have had an overhaul to make them clearer. We use our system status pages to inform on major outages, server issues and anything else about your service that we feel you need to know. Try downloading the status RSS feed to keep up-to-date with status updates.

We hope that these upgrades along with the other improvements we're putting into place will help make your time contacting Easyspace Support an altogether better experience!

View Article  Getting Seen on the Internet

A case for more forums, blogs and linking

For the uninitiated, being seen on the internet is simply a business of buying a domain and a hosting package, putting up a web site and that is it!  Oh that it were so simple.

We sometimes get complaints like “Why does my website not come up in Google.  What are you going to do about it?”

Unfortunately there is an awful lot more to be done.  We can help get the ball rolling, though not provide the compete answer.  The fact is that getting a site listed in a search engine is difficult and to ensure that your site comes out top or near the top against the searches your customers make will be even more so.

Firstly, web pages must be built with search engines in mind, using meta tags, keywords, page titles as well as content.  Secondly it is important to make the search engines aware that the site is there to be sought - by submitting the site to them.  It must be remembered that no search engine records all pages published on the internet, so we must try to think about what sort of things will encourage a search engine to list our site.

Submitting a site is made easy by our EasyWebSubmit product.  But neither it nor any other search engine submission software can guarantee where your site will appear in the search engine rankings.

Search engines want to highlight all those sites that are active and of most interest to their users.  So the more places your site or its contents are mentioned, the more likely your site is to be picked up and given some prominence.  How can you do this?

Firstly you can start a blog publishing regular daily comment with links to your web sites as well as linking your web sites back to the blog(s).  Don’t overdo it though. If overdone, the site could be down rated.  Swapping links with other sites with complimentary interests can help.  Many will do this, though some may start pushing towards a pay per click (PPC) arrangement, something that is offered through many search engines ( see our Mirago and MIVA services) and should be separately looked into.  Thirdly mentions in forum posts will also increase the chances of being picked up.

Make no mistake, however, that getting a web site to the top in search engines is a hard job and needs continual effort, just as the search engines will constantly be changing how they rank pages in trying to get the best result for the searcher.

It is easy to get domain names and blogs with our new keyword search, so go on, get up those rankings.  Good luck.
